
Irrigation Technician
This position is located in Bozeman, MT. This is NOT a remote position.
Job Description:
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance. This role involves working with both residential and commercial irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation of Irrigation Systems:
Install new irrigation systems for residential, commercial, or agricultural properties.
Lay pipes, set up sprinklers, and install valves, controllers, and other necessary components.
System Maintenance and Inspection:
Conduct regular inspections of irrigation systems to identify issues, wear and tear, or inefficiencies.
Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, replacing worn-out parts, adjusting timers, and ensuring proper water flow.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair irrigation system malfunctions, including leaks, broken sprinklers, valve issues, or faulty controllers.
Use specialized tools and equipment to make repairs and replace damaged components.
Customer Service:
Communicate with clients to understand their irrigation needs and offer suitable recommendations.
Provide clear instructions to clients on system operation and maintenance.
Respond to customer concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.
System Optimization:
Ensure systems are optimized for water efficiency, including adjusting water flow, scheduling, and sensor placements.
Implement solutions to minimize water waste and improve system performance.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Keep detailed records of service calls, repairs, installations, and any maintenance performed.
Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materials.
Skills:
Knowledge of irrigation system components and installation techniques.
Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to kneel, bend, and work in tight spaces.
Work Environment:
Field-based work, in outdoor settings with constant exposure to environmental and changing weather conditions.
Daily travel to and from job sites with the ability to haul a trailer.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in irrigation systems, plumbing, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in irrigation installation, repair, or maintenance. Experience with different types of irrigation systems (e.g., drip, sprinkler, etc.) is a plus.
Driver’s License:
Must be 21 years or older and have a valid U.S. Driver’s License that is not currently suspended or revoked (driving record must meet the insurance carrier’s policy requirements and Highridge Landscapes Inc. driving standards).
Preferred:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
