Spray Technician

 This position is located in Bozeman, MT. This is NOT a remote position.

Job Summary:

The Spray Technician reports directly to the Operations Manager and works alongside the maintenance team providing outstanding service to our clients.  Main duties include mixing chemicals and water in spray tanks, applying chemicals in a manner consistent with chemical labeling, recommending spray routines, maintaining equipment, and various other hands-on tasks related to the business. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

·       High School Diploma or equivalent.

·       1-year minimum of previous spray experience.

·       Ability to interact professionally with all clients, team members, and those from external organizations.

·       Strong oral and written communication.

·       Problem solving skills and an eye for detail related to landscaping.

·       Basic computer skills.

·       Organized and ability to work alone.

·       Willingness to grow with the company.

·       Ability to lift 15-50lbs. Frequently.

·       Ability to lift 51-92lbs. Occasionally.

·       Safety first mindset and a good safety record.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Driver’s Licenses

  • Must be 21 years or older and have a valid U.S. Driver’s License that is not currently suspended or revoked (driving record must meet the insurance carrier’s policy requirements and Highridge Landscapes Inc. driving standards).

Position Duties and Functions

·       Mix chemicals and water in sprayer tank.

·       Clean and service tools and machinery.

·       Carefully follow all policies and best practices to ensure a safe work environment.

·       Knowledgeable spray techniques and an understanding of how to safely apply chemicals.

·       Keep and maintain daily operational records in accordance with the Montana Department of Agriculture.

·       Promote safety in every aspect of the job by upholding PPE policies.

·       Be aware of and abide by company policies, processes, and procedures, including, but not limited to, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), safety protocols, and company policies, such as dress and grooming requirements, smoking policies, and electronics usage.

·       Plan jobs and ensure that the necessary resources and materials are available in sufficient quantities and that time is managed efficiently. Ensure that all jobs are completed on time without exceeding the budgeted job production hours.

·       Maintain and monitor all work environments and assigned equipment. Immediately report any damaged, broken, missing, or malfunctioning equipment and/or safety concerns to the Operations Manager and/or Mechanic.

·       Prior to starting a job, ensure that the job site and equipment are clean and that the work can be performed safely.

·       Evaluate needs at each job site and make recommendations to supervisors for possible or necessary changes or improvements to accounts.

·       Perform other assigned tasks.

Hazardous Chemicals

·       Must abide by OSHA standards including hazard recognition and controlling exposure of toxic substances.

Working Conditions

The majority of the work (80-90%) is performed outdoors with constant exposure to environmental and weather elements including, but not limited to, heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, grasses, dirt, bugs, plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, dust, and pollen. Work is occasionally performed close to machinery and loud noises. Frequent exposure to fertilizers, fumes, and lawncare chemicals. Work involves daily travel to and from job sites and operating a motor vehicle (with or without a trailer) on public roadways. Work requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting.

This position requires the ability to work full-time (five days per week, a minimum of 8 hours per day) with extended workdays and weekend working during the season, at times with little or no advanced notice.

Special Equipment

Must possess the ability to efficiently and safely operate a variety of mechanical equipment and hand/power tools, including, but not limited to, articulating loader, skid steers, mini skid steers, mini-excavator, string trimmers, bed edgers, rototillers, gas-powered sheers, plant augers, chainsaws, backpack blowers, small engines, pumps, ride on spreader/sprayer, and small, medium, and large duty trucks with manual or automatic transmissions and truck and trailer combinations.  Must be able to efficiently operate computers, cell phones, and related office devices.

Required License:

  • Valid Driver’s License that is not currently suspended or revoked (driving record must meet the insurance carrier’s policy requirements and Highridge Landscapes Inc. driving standards).

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
